Australia Skilled Migration Visa (Subclass 189 & 190): Full Guide
Australia offers multiple pathways to permanent residency for skilled workers. The Subclass 189 (Skilled Independent) and Subclass 190 (Skilled Nominated) are the most popular among Indian applicants.
Subclass 189 — Skilled Independent
No state or employer sponsorship required. You need to be invited through SkillSelect. Points-based assessment — you need at least 65 points. Your occupation must be on the relevant MLTSSL list.
Subclass 190 — Skilled Nominated
Requires nomination from an Australian state or territory. Nomination adds 5 points to your score. Each state has its own occupation list and requirements. Popular states for nominations: Victoria, NSW, Queensland, Western Australia.
